Sofia Vergara’s latest venture, the miniseries “Griselda,” has taken Netflix by storm. The show, which explores the life of notorious figure Griselda Blanco, is produced and led by Vergara herself.
Legal Precautions Taken by Production:
Before its January 25 premiere, the production, led by Eric Newman and Sofia Vergara, worked closely with Netflix’s legal team to safeguard against potential lawsuits from Blanco’s relatives, given the sensitive nature of the subject matter.
Lawsuit Filed by Griselda Blanco’s Son:
Michael Corleone Sepulveda Blanco, Griselda Blanco’s son, filed a lawsuit against Vergara, Newman, and Netflix, alleging unauthorized use of his mother’s image, likeness, or identity.
However, a settlement was reached between Vergara and Corleone, with the complaint being dismissed with prejudice.
Corleone’s Memoir Book in the Works:
Corleone is currently preparing a memoir book detailing his experiences alongside his mother. Despite the legal dispute, Vergara has expressed interest in reading his memoir, acknowledging Corleone’s childhood hardships.
Producer Eric Newman emphasized that the series is a creative adaptation of real events rather than a documentary.
He stressed that the show’s narrative may not align perfectly with historical accuracy but aims to present a compelling story to viewers.
