The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has revealed its nominees for the Class of 2024, presenting a diverse lineup of 15 artists vying for induction into the prestigious institution.
The nominees encompass various musical genres and eras, from hip-hop pioneers to pop icons and alt-rock legends.
Among the contenders are Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Cher, and Dave Matthews Band, along with Eric B. & Rakim, Foreigner, and Peter Frampton.
Fresh Faces and Returning Favorites:
Two-thirds of this year’s nominees are first-time contenders, including long-awaited nominees like Cher, Frampton, and Foreigner.
Meanwhile, veterans such as Mary J. Blige, Eric B. & Rakim, and Dave Matthews Band make their second appearance on the ballot, with A Tribe Called Quest receiving their third nomination.
Notably absent from this year’s ballot are The White Stripes, who sparked controversy with their exclusion after appearing on the 2023 ballot. Additionally, Cyndi Lauper, a nominee in 2023, is also missing from the 2024 lineup.
Voting Process and Announcement:
The nominees will be evaluated by a voting body of over 1,000 artists, historians, and music industry members. The Class of 2024 will be revealed in late April, following the deliberation process.
Induction Ceremony Details:
This year’s induction ceremony returns to Cleveland, the birthplace of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and will be live-streamed on Disney+ for the second consecutive year. The event will later air on ABC and be available on Hulu, allowing fans worldwide to celebrate the induction of music legends.
