On Tuesday morning, New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) made a highly anticipated announcement revealing their upcoming album, “Still Kids,” marking their first album of new material in 11 years.
Scheduled for release on May 17 via BMG, the 14-track album promises a blend of pop anthems, dance tracks, love songs, and grooves sure to captivate fans, affectionately known as “Blockheads.”
Album Details and Lead Single
The album was introduced with the mid-tempo single “Kids,” a vibrant track co-written and co-produced by David Stewart and Luke Batt.
The accompanying music video, directed by Marissa Velez, will debut on YouTube, with a live premiere set for The Kelly Clarkson Show on Friday, March 8, during an NKOTB episode takeover.
A Mature Yet Fun Sound
Described as their most mature album to date, “Still Kids” showcases the evolution of NKOTB’s sound while maintaining their signature fun and energetic vibe.
Creative director Donnie Wahlberg emphasized the album’s depth and excitement, stating that it brings the band and fans full circle, embodying themes of hope, possibilities, and authenticity.
Collaborations and Songwriting Credits
The album features collaborations with DJ Jazzy Jeff on “Get Down” and Taylor Dayne on “Old School Love,” adding additional layers to the group’s dynamic sound.
Joey McIntyre, who co-wrote six tracks with songwriter/producer Sean Thomas, expressed amazement at the band’s ability to infuse energy, passion, and lightness into their music after nearly four decades together.
