Rumors circulating on Thursday evening have now been officially confirmed: Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign are set to host joint album listening parties for Vultures 1 in Italy next week. The events will take place in Milan on February 22 and in Bologna on February 24.
Hi-Fidelity Audio Experience
Billed as “a hi-fidelity audio experience,” the listening parties promise an immersive sonic journey for attendees. Tickets for both events went on sale at 3pm CET today (February 16).
Controversies Surrounding Vultures 1
Despite its highly anticipated release, Vultures 1 has been mired in controversy, particularly regarding unauthorized sampling.
Issues arose with samples from Backstreet Boys’ “Everybody” and a live rendition of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Iron Man.” The latter was eventually replaced with an interpolation from Kanye West’s own catalog.
Another dispute emerged with the Donna Summer estate over the use of her song “I Feel Love” in the track “Good (Don’t Die).” Although the song was temporarily removed from streaming platforms, it has since been reinstated.
Kanye West’s Connection to Italy
Italy holds a special significance for Kanye West, evident in his past interactions and creative endeavors in the country.
Last August, he made headlines with a controversial appearance at the Venice Film Festival. Additionally, plans for a large concert at the RCF Arena in Reggio Emilia were reportedly in the works for October, although they were ultimately cancelled.
Moreover, the music video for his latest single “Talking / Once Again” features a collaboration with an Italian creative team.
Matteo Cocco serves as the director of photography, while the directing duties are handled by brothers Damiano and Fabio D’Innocenzo, who have openly expressed their admiration for Kanye West’s music.
