U2 wrapped up their groundbreaking residency at the state-of-the-art Sphere in Las Vegas over the weekend, concluding a 40-show run that began in September. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ufeffThe band’s final performances were a fitting tribute to one of their most iconic albums, Achtung Baby, which they played in its entirety along with select tracks from their extensive catalogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honoring Achtung Baby<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the residency, U2 commemorated the success of Achtung Baby, their chart-topping 1991 album, by performing it in full. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a special moment during Saturday night’s show, the band welcomed Achtung Baby producer Daniel Lanois to join them on stage, where he played guitar and provided backup vocals for the track “One.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bono expressed gratitude to Lanois, acknowledging his pivotal role in the creation of the album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acknowledging Larry Mullen Jr.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite drummer Larry Mullen Jr.’s absence due to recuperation from surgery and injuries sustained during his career, his presence was felt throughout the residency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday night, Bono addressed the audience, dispelling rumors of Mullen’s participation in the performance but expressing heartfelt appreciation for his contributions to the band’s legacy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bono highlighted Mullen’s pivotal role in forming U2, referencing the moment when Mullen pinned a note on the notice board at Mount Temple Comprehensive School, leading to the band’s formation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
